Patricia Urquiola burst onto the industrial and furniture design scene several years ago, and has since risen to be one of the top designers in her field. She attended the Faculty of Architecture of the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic where she graduated in 1989. She completed her thesis there with the great architect-turned-designer Achille Castiglioni, who became her mentor and encouraged her to switch to design. While working in accordance with the highest academic standards, Patricia Urquiola also takes into consideration the impact that her products have on people, designing pleasant and comfortable environments that encourage positive feelings and intimacy.

She was born in Oviedo, Spain and now lives and works in Milan.
